My name is Matthew Daniel Winter and I’m a Journalism/New Media student at Towson University. I’m 21-years-old and live off-campus in the Loch Raven Villages.
I’m a huge fan of sports and would like to make it a career one day. I’m determined to land a job where work doesn’t seem like work and the money is glorious. I’m slowly “hard”-working my way there and for me, I want to be a broadcaster for a professional baseball team.
I got my first big break from being in the right place at the right time. I landed an internship as a reporter for 105.7 (HFS at the time, but now is The Fan) getting audio clips from Orioles’ players for the pre and post-game radio shows. There I met a lot of players, writers and reporters that, up until that point, had only known from skimming through the paper or seeing them on TV.
One of the writers I met got me a job the next summer working for MASNsports.com(which is a great site for everything Orioles and Ravens) and it’s just one step closer to achieving my goal as I continue to stay in the business and stay in constant contact with people who know people.
